John Deere announces another round of layoffs, this time of 287 workers in Quad Cities – Des Moines Register

A tractor chassis is prepped for paint at John Deere's Waterloo assembly plant .The layoffs, effective Jan. 3, include 200 workers at the company’s Harvester Works in East Moline and seven at its Seeding and Cylinder operations in Moline, the company's headquarters city.

To put this in perspective, Deere has over 80,000 employees worldwide.

The Deere family gave up controlling interests in the company back in the 80’s. Right now John Deere, the founder, is spinning in his grave watching as his company, his idea, his innovation is being destroyed.
