Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. “Black folks should have free health insurance, but if not all of it, at least making sure that we have we were able to access free mental health services.” The problem is again, the liberal Democrat living in a world of fantasy and make believe. A majority of african americans already have free or low cost health insurance. I did some quick math and found that roughly 20,000,000 black folk are on medicaid, which is free health health insurance. I also found that roughly 5,000,000 black seniors were on Medicare. I also found that an additional 2,000,000 black folk were… Read more »
Oh come’on…with all that is going on in Chicago, the crime, the economy, the illegal Immigrants, the pension crisis, the budget short fall…all of that and more…THIS is what he thinks is important? Forming a Coalition Task Force to spend time and resources to blame society. What a waste.
“Where is our modern-day 40 acres and mule?” Michelle Rashad, a Chicago Lawn resident, asked rhetorically. Rashad is also the executive director of Imagine Englewood if.., a nonprofit organization that’s dedicated to creating safe and empowering spaces for young people in Englewood. Gimme Gimme Gimme Gimme Gimme Gimme Gimme Gimme Gimme Gimme Gimme My ancestors arrived in 1920 and spoke no English and didn’t even receive 40 cents and a picture of a mule. “So if I want to get my master’s, I’m gonna get my doctorate, all of that should be paid for like the next 100 years,” she… Read more »
They are like a plague of locusts on the land.
Brando’s newly appointed director of “diversity, equity, inclusion and compliance” is Carla Kupe, is a daughter of Congolese immigrants who grew up in Luxembourg and moved to the U.S. in 1997.: ” Kupe is likely to play a fundamental role in determining what reparations will look like in Chicago. If you look under the hood, I’m sure you will find most of the lefty progressive opportunist academics & press pushing the “reparations” hustle are from somewhere else as well….there’s a word for that but I won’t use it.
The purpose of this is to vilify your white ancestors, none of whom ever owned slaves in Chicago. But he wants you and everyone to believe they were virulent racists. Your great-great-great-great grandparents, the literal founding stock of Chicago (mine were!) were nothing more than virulent, horrible racists, and Mayor Johnson is apologizing for them on your behalf. The real reason they (progressives) keep doing this over, and over again, is because they’re preparing you for the total loss of your city. They’ve already renamed your Lake Shore Drive for no good reason, they’ve taken down Columbus statutes, they rename… Read more »
Thank the Lord. Finally Chicago is going to address this issue. The $500k cost of this commission/study group/boondoggle will really be well spent. Let’s see the results or report or whatever showing the real value of this $500k. And let’s all thank he taxpayers of Chicago for chipping in to fund this top priority project– while teenagers and children are shot on the streets, wild gangs run all over Grant Park, and intersection takeovers destroy neighborhoods every weekend. Good job, Mayor.
500k divided by the 15 people in the photo is about 35 k for each and that’s as far as the money will go. Just another grift by the most privileged class in town.
Nope. None of my family were in the US during slavery. All came to this country with nothing and had to learn English…. Or, is Mayor Johnson declaring all are not created equal and, as such, in their deficicieny, they need help?
Cannot have it both ways BJ!
