Johnson safety plan slow out of the gate, but mayor vows ‘root causes’ approach will work – Chicago Tribune/MSN

“The goal for this administration and current City Council leadership is to find more than one way to defund the police. Their goal is to take more of the police budget and reallocate it to social workers and nonprofits,” Ald. Anthony Napolitano said about Johnson’s People’s Plan. “Their goal is to fund more nonprofits, who in the end will help them come election time.”

Has he ever thought that educating children to provide more opportunities for success for these kids? Address the poor education quality in CPS and hold the CTU accountable for keeping underutilized schools open to protect their jobs. “Root Causes Approach Will Work”.

This is laughable because progressives are incapable of identifying cause and effect. They operate only on their ideology of oppressor/oppresed, never admit to failure of their ideas, scream racist at anyone who points out failure, and double down on ideology.

Root Causes Approach would work if they could properly follow the steps involved, but they will not. They just use the words because they think it makes their ideological approach sound rational.

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
