Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. I think of it differently. And if you bother to read Wirepoints then I’ll assume that you haven’t entirely given up on Illinois. So, I’ll suggest three things: 1. In case you haven’t been paying attention, the Illinois RINO’s are going extinct. The disgusting go-along-get-along “republicans” like Jim Edgar are being pushed out of the IL Republican party mostly by force from Chicago Republicans. 2. HOW does this comport with the ruling that all provisions/limitations stemming from the E.O. are VOID??! We seem to have a minimum of folks in the judiciary that can reference their own field of work.
