Kane County part of voter wave saying ‘no’ to more taxes – Illinois Policy

"The county leaders now say they will have to cut budgets or raise revenue in a different way. Board Chair Corinne Pierog mentioned they might look at other ways to raise money, which could include increasing the gasoline tax. But that misses the point of what voters are clearly saying: they want government to make do with what it already has. They aren’t interested in replacing Tax A with Tax B."

There should be a statewide ban on raising any taxes, it’s time to cut some fat!

It is sad that clueless politicians can’t figure out what tax payers are telling them when their referendums for increased taxes a voted down. Their thoughts immediately go to, “how else can we tax them for the money”. The fire district, library district and park district have tried numerous times to raise taxes for projects they think are pretty this week. Once explained to the tax payer…these increases are voted down…only to reappear on the next voting round with a different name and smaller price. Once tax payers say no…accept it and move on.
