Ken Griffin slams leaders on Chicago crime – Crain’s*

Crime is out of control in Chicago, Griffin said, and political leaders are doing little to address it. "It is a disgrace that our governor won't insert himself into the challenge of addressing crime in our city...He says, 'It won't look good for there to be men and women on Michigan Avenue with assault weapons,'" Griffin said. (Pritzker's chief of staff, Anne Caprara, tweeted that she was on that call and the governor "never said that.") Griffin said today: "If that saves the life of a child, I don't care." Pritzker's office responded: "Ken Griffin is a liar."

He also praised the jabs.

A guy of his intelligence pushing the big lie for which the sole purpose (of the lie) is to push society toward government servitude.

You cannot trust billionaires to speak truth. They do not live in the same world and they don’t want to.

The three multi-car “rolling” shoot-outs in River North/Gold Coast last week, in broad daylight, with lots of innocent bystanders present, with several injured bystanders as a consequence are undeniable proof: Chicago’s lawlessness is out-of-control, and even innocent bystanders are inevitably and profoundly affected.

Try selling a River North condo now – near impossible.

Try planning a night-out with friends in downtown or River North – ridiculous idea.

How does this compare to the rolling shootouts during the Capone days? What is the difference? It was out control then as it is out of control now. The difference is that today it is encouraged by Kimmie who refuses to prosecute the shooters involved and lets them go to shoot again..

One billionaire talking smack about another billionaire. Why exactly was Griffin able to get Pritzker on the phone during the st. George Floyd riots? Didn’t he set up shop in a hotel convention center in South Florida?

I have said it for a while. Wealthy people will make a lot of trade-offs to live in an urban area. As soon as their personal physical safety is consistently, and randomly in danger, they will leave, never to come back. Griffin will go to Florida. His residency will be Florida. One of the first things he will do is donate to charitable institutions in Florida, and stop donating in Chicago. That’s a tell for residency.

Citadel job openings will provide some clues. Does it look like his NYC office is expanding or offering more high-level positions? How many open positions are remote?

I believe Griffin. Pritzker’s toilet removal scam to have poor Cook County residents pay his share of property taxes told me all I need to know about his character.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
