Kim Foxx Reflects on Year Without Cash Bail in Illinois, Says Critics’ Attacks Were ‘Racist Propaganda’ – WTTW (Chicago)

Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx appears on “Chicago Tonight” on Jan. 31, 2023. (WTTW News)“I just feel compelled, in my time left in office, to say truths that need to be spoken: It was racist. It was racist,” Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx said of opponents’ attacks on the law and her advocacy. “There’s policy disagreement, and then there is what we saw in relation to this legislation, and what we saw wasn’t policy disagreements."

And the fact that many people refuse to go to Chicago because it’s a criminal swamp has no impact on her opinion.

You get around cameras and bright lights, your bound to forget a fellow honky supporter named Eric Rinehart, who also happens to be the States Attorney in woke Lake County.

When Kim Foxx goes to a mirror she sees a true racist.

I do not claim to know how this law is actually working out.

Time for an independent study to analyze it.

Will the Ill GOP take a lead to see such a study is done?

Kimmy Rootbeerface earned another soft drink baptism during her typically puffball interview on unapologetically leftist Wilmette Talking To Winnetka. One need only walk the loop, visit Grant Park, or go to Topalobambo for tacos to know that thug element has carte blanche in Cook County. Ms. Rootbeerface has gutted criminal justice in Cook County for her entire term and the results are plain, except to statisticians. Her crime numbers are down not due to any reduction in criminal activity. The reporting of criminal activity is down. This is partly due to her office defining deviancy down, but also due to… Read more »

“Loyola’s David Olson compared the first six months of last year with this year, and found property and violent crime down both statewide and in Cook County.”

how about this instead David

“Loyola’s David Olson compared the first six months of last year with this year, and found property and violent crime reporting was down both statewide and in Cook County.”

I don’t dispute that most but not all indicators crime is down slightly from 2023 and moreso from 2020. The larger issue is that crime is way, way up from the 2000’s and 2010’s, and crime rates are closer to the 1990’s than they are pre-covid. The crime post-covid also seems to be more organized now, with robbery and burglary crews operating more brazenly than in the past. There’s also more generalized disorder right now compared to precovid, with more street takeovers, nonsense at parades, unpermitted street gatherings, etc than precovid, even though specific indicators of crime, like murder and… Read more »

Isn’t Illinois Fun?

Her unwillingness to enforce laws, her willingness to loosen thresholds for prosecution is the real story as she has sent signals to criminals that they are not at great risk of being held accountable. This has hurt all neighborhoods, especially those already crime ridden. But when hit with a Big Gulp it’s felony time. Good riddance and let’s hope her successor has more common sense and a willingness to prosecute or we will be living with more brazen crime.

KIm’s comment regarding a “honest conversation about what happened” coupled with the usual playing of the race card seems quite intriguing. Should one read the Second City Cop, Hey Jackass or CWBChicago blogs a much different situation than Kim’s is described. So who is having the honest conversation? A race baiting politician vs three blogs with one being run by an apparent Chicago policeman. As for me I am trusting the blogs from the safety of my home. Those that prefer to believe the politicians view might just want to wander out into the streets of Chicago and see for… Read more »

Is this article news or state propaganda?

“Next week will mark a year since Illinois did away with cash bail — an enormous, precedent-setting dismantling of an early central plank of the criminal justice system. The move was borne of Black legislators’ efforts to systemically uproot racist policies and practices following the 2020 police murder of George Floyd.”

Kimmy. There nothing racist about all the murder victims of color which occurred under your tenure.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
