Congressman Darin LaHood and Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski argue the site needs recognition for its impact on American history, as it was the catalyst for the start of the NAACP. Illinois’ senators Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth are also working in the Senate on similar legislation.
