Lakeview residents angry after teen takeovers lead to car, property damage – NBC5 (Chicago)

Comedian Dominic Rescigno had just finished a show at Annoyance Theater when he tried to get to his parked car in the 900 block of Belmont Avenue. “I see a riot happening down the street, surrounded by cops that are watching,” he said. “I went up to one of the cops and said ‘my car’s in there’ and he said ‘you’re bleeped,’ and I was.”

Stop your whining you Lakeview crybaby hypocrites. You voted overwhelmingly for the Dem alderman, mayor, state rep, state senator and all the county officials. Your Congressperson is a nut job. So now you want somebody to do something about your neighborhood going to hell. Why don[t you call the officials you just put into office! And by the way, the value of your house is going down because of the policies your favorite pols have put in place.

Per CWB, the CTA refused the police request to have the trains bypass the Belmont stop. The cops were outnumbered and what’s the CTA’s response — continue to deliver hordes of ‘silly teens’ into the heart of the chaos. What a city.

The city residents will pay much more for the insurance that the “silly” kids are saying you have to cover your damages. You likely need to specifically request coverage for “mob” action, which will cause your premiums will skyrocket. Most “experienced” drivers unfortunately know you only drive a beater car in Chicago. They will get bumped into, danced on (cellulite, yuck!) or carjacked. Save the car you value for the quick escapes to the expressway ramps.

So unpredictable that almost any event can draw the mob wilders. Best way of keeping them out is fence it off and charge an entrance fee or cover charge.

Chicago Ald. Bennett Lawson says at least two arrests were made, and police were able to disperse the crowds by approximately 3 a.m.”

What a hoot. What the alderman means to say is that CPD stood around and watched the “sometimes they make silly choices” teens wreck people’s cars until they tired of it at 3:00 am and went home.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
