Lawmakers blast Postal Service’s ‘inadequate response’ to rise in robberies of letter carriers – Chicago Sun-Times

A letter signed by Sens. Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth, and U.S. reps. Mike Quigley, Sean Casten and Jan Schakowsky, reads, in part, "Postal employees in Chicago continue to have to perform their jobs while fearing for their lives." Reports of robberies of letter carriers rose from 80 robberies in 2018 to more than 260 robberies last year.

The banks and federal investigators have to be involved in order to catch the fraudsters.

Requesting that the postal service do everything possible to protect their employees, take steps to ensure there aren’t internal perpetrators, upgrade the mail box access system, etc. is probably not a waste of time.  Though, the banks and federal investigators are the ones who have to get to the bottom of this.

There are a lot of scams out there.  Scam-like activity gets repeated as long as the fraudsters get away with conducting the activity.

News flash: all Chicagoans perform their jobs and errands fearing for their lives. The fact that Durbin et al ignore this is a huge reason why they’re in for historic losses in the midterms

The thugs want the mailbox keys! I’ve spoken to several people about this. It all comes down to unemployment fraud and COVID relief fraud. They can’t get the checks out of the mail without the keys! Do Nothing Durbin must not have gotten his most recent issue of Idiots Monthly, so he’s taking it out on the USPS. Here’s a newsflash for you Dick, your party’s garbage policies have created the environment that enables the gangbangers and other criminals to get away with this behavior. You want to place blame, look in the mirror you worthless piece of human waste.

And if he dispatches a gangbanger he could also use his Return to Sender stamp!

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
