Ted joined Jeff Daly to talk about why its racist to not admit that Chicago has a murder crisis considering a vast majority of victims are black, why Illinois’ deal with Chinese battery-maker Gotion is a national security issue, why Illinoisans should be upset about subsidies given the government’s overspending, the deficits impacting Chicago’s budget, and more.

A mess of uncertainty and litigation is sure to follow.
With $162 billion more from taxpayers, couldn’t you deliver a few bond upgrades, too
The government (the liberal kind) wants batteries, and they are willing to subsidize them. The same way a conservative government may want to subsidize in-vitro fertilization because more babies are important to them. What American battery company is standing up to take this subsidy and risk building a battery plant in a market where EV’s are not selling? I don’t see one. This whole thing is about a vacuum in capabilities. America cannot make batteries as efficiently and profitably as a Chinese company can, so a Gotion comes along and says “we’ll risk it”. America is not a self-sufficient nation,… Read more »
Rick, multiple huge errors in your argument: Gotion sure as hell is not coming in and saying they will take the risk. They are getting $536 million from IL plus $7.5B in federal tax credits for a plant that will cost just $2.9B to build. We gave them all upside with no risk. Absurd $/new job created cost. Dumbest deal ever. Chinese batter makers are hardly the only option. Tesla and GM make them in partnership with LG (deals like that with companies from democratic allies — like LG/Japan are fine by me). Only a third of Tesla’s batteries are… Read more »
First, national security has to be priority one for any government entity. It’s why we have government in the first place. Second, it seems as if Pritzker uses government subsidies to lure companies to Illinois not because it makes long term economic sense. Rather, he uses them for purely political reasons and to stroke his massive ego, which based on his daily ridiculous claims, needs constant stroking. Residents of Illinois deserve much better.
I agreed with everything in your comment except: “Residents of Illinois deserve much better.”
Anyone unwilling to leave deserves whatever happens. People continually fail to understand how lucky they are to have a choice of 50 different states. My question to you is, “Why do the people of Illinois deserve better? Didn’t they get exactly what they voted for?”
I understand completely what you’re saying, and for a large swath of Illinois you are correct of course. Many people didn’t vote for the current Illinois environment, they simply were out voted. Many of those same people have conflicts that keep them in Illinois, either personal or professional. All should be carefully planning the day they can escape and taking action to ensure it happens. From my perspective, Illinois cannot be salvaged.
Most of the geographical area in Illinois is red but lacks the population to make the state red. The larger population is confined to Chicago and Cook county which is mostly blue. That said why is it that Trump does not campaign in the Chicago area? If he can change some of the voters minds by showing them the conditions they live in like poverty-high crime-inferior schools-lack of healthy foods-high taxes maybe there is a chance down the road the entire state could be red. It would only take a few hundred thousand votes to turn the tide. Even though… Read more »
Trump needs to focus on the swing states. Even Trump has limited time and resources.
I agree but Chicago/Cook county determines for the most part that a democrat will win. How many people in Chicago get all the facts in an election from the news media we have. So many are stuck in the same rut for generations. If Trump could persuade at least tens of thousands to vote R even for local elections it may change the tide. Someone has to start the process. I know he has limited resources and little time but what does it say when he ignores Illinois? In the minds of people they probably think he could care less… Read more »
At Trump’s most recent rally in Wisconsin he specifically encouraged Illinois voters and voters in other blue states to turn out and vote for him in order to send a message. While the odds of Trump actually winning Illinois are slim to none, if enough Trump voters turn out, and/or enough Democrat voters don’t vote for Harris to make things closer than usual, it may have an effect.
I think it has a lot more to do with insecure elections and has been most of my 66 years.
Agree. Dems have dominated Illinois for so long now that they have little opposition, and there isn’t much to salvage even if the opposition did get a foothold.
RINO scum like you, that grift off of hope and money people donate in good faith, are the worst. You are culpable in the destruction of our country. Quit your radio show and quit posting here. Get out of our way.
Publius, I am curious about what Illini said that bothers you and makes him a RHINO. Can you be specific?
You’ve got to be kidding me! The treacherous perspective speaks for itself. As VC guys, you know that leadership is the driving force behind an organization’s success.
Who wants a CEO in charge that invites a hostile takeover? This clown is purposely destroying everything we’ve working for. The fact that he’s doing it in his spare time, under what I consider a demoralizing pseudonym, makes it even more disturbing. He needs to go.
I still have no idea what it is that you don’t like, and who the “we” is that you are part of.
“From my perspective, Illinois cannot be salvaged.” Why bother with the disparaging comments then? This isn’t exactly an isolated incident. Why the compelling drive to inject himself in all things related to Illinois politics?
I’m a concerned citizen and confident that most don’t want what the usual commenters here are trying to sell.
Dude, you need to relax. You don’t know me, though you seem to think you do. That’s a problem, and you should seek help. As for my views, well, those are based on decades of observations, and yeah, many people feel the same way. Don’t take it too hard, as my exit strategy is well underway. I maintain a residence here for one reason, and as more family head out of this doomed state, I’m closer to being here 0%. I have to admit, once that happens I’ll still drop in here at Wirepoints just to connect with the smart… Read more »
