Libertarian concerns persist as IL Sec of State announces IDs for Apple Wallet – Center Square

According to Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias, the initiative enables Illinoisans to present their driver’s license and state ID in Apple Wallet in person, online and in apps at select businesses and organizations, including Transportation Security Administration checkpoints at over 250 U.S. airports. In addition, Giannoulias said mobile IDs would help close gaps minors have exploited with fake IDs.

Who in their right mind would had over their phone to a police officer to verify their drivers license and their insurance??

I don’t think you can actually use this “mobile ID” as a driving license. The ILSOS web site says “You still need to carry your physical ID with you.”
