Librarians go radical as new woke policies take over: experts – New York Post

How America's libraries have turned into hotbeds of political activism, with young readers caught in the crossfire. The influential Chicago-based Fobazi Ettarh, 32, who was most recently a librarian at Rutgers, is another example of what many call a modern “radical librarian.” Ettarh, who is also an educator and writer, says she represents “librarianship, education, activism, and all the intersections in between.... People that say what librarians do in their own time, out of the library, is their own business. As if white supremacy is something you only do on weekends,” she wrote on her “WTF Is a Radical Librarian Anyway?” website.

Do people use libraries for actual research anymore? Seems like libraries are community centers with some books.

My library has a good teen event schedule with SAT Prep, finding college scholarships and a few other educational events. Please tell me how drag queen bingo fits in as a library event.

What is taking place in libraries, apparently across the nation, is insane. This movement represents the unraveling of America, and it is moving at a breakneck pace. This fringe weirdo element will stop at nothing to spread their sickness and is becoming increasingly brazen. If ten years ago anyone talked of having drag queen bingo night that targeted 7th to 12th graders in public libraries, they would have been arrested. Today we are well down the path of making it the norm. Americans better wake up. These nutjobs are targeting your children.

My library is woke and rotten to the core. The youth director is a non-binary woke freak who last year tweeted something to the effect that the library system in its entirety is racist and hateful and should be completely dismantled and rebuilt with LBSDLFKJSDLFJ@!+ in mind. This 30 year old freak is pushing gender bending ideology upon our children.

My local library now doubles as a homeless warming/cooling shelter with bathroom facilities. If the community member can sleep in a chair it’s a trifecta of wokersterism that I don’t remember voting on but appears on my property tax bill.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
