I’m beginning to believe this has nothing to do with Lightfoot’s or Pritzker re-election bid because they know it may be over but how to just screw over every taxpayer in this hideous state

Free gas! Free bikes! Free transit cars! Free cars – (if liberated from rightful driver)!

Lightfoot knows she’s got a tough re-election campaign, and Biden still hasn’t rewarded Lightfoot with that promised Fed judgeship. Karma is a bitch. Lightfoot needs to be either re-elected, or she’ll be as unemployable as Rahm Emmanuel once was.

Prediction: a scandal will be uncovered. Mail deliverers and Chicago teachers will be involved in it.

1) Who is monitoring the # of cards issued? 2) What is the street value of a card? Likely discounted because who wants to ride the bus? 3) How are cards protected against forgery? 4) What’s the cost of the equipment needed to use the cards for transport? 5) How many social workers will be hired to distribute the cards? 6) When do cards expire? 7) Will transit fees for others be increased to generate revenue to pay drivers etc.? 8) How many card-carriers can ride the bus all day and how can their restful sleep be assured? 9) What… Read more »

Let’s see … 50,000 physical prepaid cards x $150 = $7.5 million. Where’s the other $5 million going? Administration fees? Graft? Campaign money contributions?

Willie Wilson spent his own money; Lightfoot is spending Chicagoan’s money.

Big difference.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
