"As Democrats, if we do not speak the truth about violent crime in our cities, we will be the worse for it," Mayor Lori Lightfoot said. "I come to this conversation as a former federal prosecutor. I come to this as a former defense attorney, I am the sister of a returning resident. But I know that there are people in my city that are wreaking havoc every day and need to be off the streets. That’s reality."

This is the real Lori who was elected by the people, the outsider, prosecutor, says it how it is. Once she was in office Im sure big Papi Pritzker told exactly what she was going to say & do or else. The Democrats are like the mob, hell they are the mob, and you don’t get to govern without doing what they tell you to do. I expect the next clown to get the same talk, fall in line and do exactly what the fat man tells him to, or else. This mob runs deep, is well funded and goes… Read more »

Frank Sinatra’s song “Chicago” needs to be re-worded to fit the times. The video to go along with the new wording should be of the rioting and mayhem that took place the other day. Chicago, Chicago, A gang banger’s kind of town.

No we are not “demonizing”—we want civil order which is required for civilized society—which means strong policing, and prosecution of a magnitude to enable a safe environment.
Plus don’t forget “hate crimes”—where someone of one race attacks someone of another race, because of their race. Prosecution in those instances should be of a much higher magnitude.
They aren’t prosecuting most crimes, but ‘hate’ crimes seem to push their way to the front of the line. Guess they’re more newsworthy. As ‘systemic racism’ is being overused, so too are ‘hate crimes.’ Yet, as far as I know, when a black guy mows down a Wisconsin Christmas parade, no cries of ‘hate crime.’ Again, selective prosecution. Until prosecution and charges are fairly and equally applied, faith in the justice system is will remain low. And, an aside … what would be the reaction of there was an exclusive gathering of white mayors? Can you imagine the coverage on… Read more »

Look at photo of panelists, certainly not diverse group, was this a BLM-sponsored event? Photo reveals problem: elected black politicians, having gained political control of both Chicago and Cook County, nonetheless unwilling to meaningfully address conditions which enable unfettered street-crime, despite disproportionate negative affect on black communities, ineptly posturing on podium in front of their constituents. Lightfoot was a substantial contributor, but not solely responsible, for constraints placed upon policing, lapses in prosecutorial actions, and molly-coddling of those criminal POC youth and teenagers largely responsible for huge spike in street-crime. Lightfoot’s “come to Jesus” revelations regarding actual alarming conditions in… Read more »

So now that Johnson is to be installed, no more pandering to the extremist BLM?

Now she wants truth? As she exits the office she calls for truth?
Where was the truth these past four years?
Or in 2020 when ‘mostly peaceful’ protests were unleased on downtown and the bridges were raised?
NOW she wants truth???

What a phony. She did absolutely nothing to solve the problem in her four years in office. Wouldn’t say a peep while she was a candidate and mayor. But now that she got the boot and is out of the business, she tells everyone else how to do it. It is amazing she would even show her face in public after the damage she did to the city.

It is a little late to do anything now. The crime is running rampant and will only get worse.
Talk is cheap, action takes effort and so far, no one has been willing to do anything but collect a paycheck.

Is Lori okay? I’m worried she may have experienced a recent blow to the head. Her comments are completely inconsistent with her past actions. Where was this concept of getting havoc wreaking individuals off the streets while the city was under siege a few years ago? Clearly she has experienced some kind of trauma to be speaking this way. Thoughts and prayers!
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.

I think she got hit in the head with the hammer of reality.
I think she is auditioning for a spot on MSNBC/CNN
or a professorship at Uni of Illinois-
along with Bill Ayers
She wasn’t going to endorse Kim Foxx and then did after elected. Never a word of criticism of Foxx or Evans while in office.
Now that she no longer will be the target…
She will be enthusiastically sling arrows at her fellow (D)’s…
