“To further fight the spread of COVID-19, the City is considering additional measures in the coming days, including bringing back restrictions on businesses,” a statement from the city said.

Northshore Beaches were open and in full swing this summer!
There was no outbreak of the Chinese Virus in those areas

Lightfoot’s Agenda is that of Control and Fear! Akin to that of Communist Countries!

The lockdowns were for the original purpose of making sure the hospitals would not be over run.
Looks like she and Jag boy have gotten drunk on power and run with it.
Glad I do not live there.

They’ve had their eyes on bringing communism/NWO to the state from the get-go of their campaigns. Voters way too low-information to ever get it.

Stopped listening to these clowns months ago. Now I literally just use my apartment in downtown Chicago as a storage unit until I can decide where to relocate to. The city is depressing and there seems to be zero hope anything will ever get better. Meanwhile, there are places where life is “semi” back to normal – and everyone is okay. Godspeed Lori!

Many people think they will let up after the election. They won’t. They will never let people go back to living their own lives freely.

They sincerely believe you need them to tell you how to behave, how to think.

I agree. Our Governor and Major will continue to “punish” us, especially if President Trump wins and there is no bailout, which I believe likely.

I was downtown today for a short while. Utter disaster, and very sad indeed.

Nuremberg would not do us justice.

I agree with you guys as well. It’ll be the final straw for me to say good riddance, with also the 1-2% flat IL income tax hike that’s coming. It’s funny that people don’t see literally a lost decade for Chicago. If you have the right business, maybe you can own one and let other people run it here, but otherwise who wants to be in a place where you know you could be doing stuff but these fear and control mongers just want to ruin you because they hate the world? I’d cry but instead I’ll move to FL… Read more »

Jabba and Mini-Me are on a full evil trip to destroy what was enjoyable about IL (a bit) and Chi-town (a good deal until recently). This is a full-on script — the cases scam especially where testing has been PUSHED to “justify” the current threats and re-restrictions. May these demons shrivel and allow something better to emerge.

I agree with all of you. I’ve lived in Chicago for almost 10 years now. It’s where I started my career… At the time, it was the right move, right opportunity, and as a consultant who travels every week out of ORD, the right place to be to fly everywhere I need to go and take some awesome international trips. I didn’t really have to care about the crooked and corrupt politics of the city, it really didn’t affect me…… until now. I’m 35 and have been fortunate enough to work remotely. All of my friends are also consultants or… Read more »

I’m just a bit older than you, George. I grew up in the area, too, went away, and came back. Having family that has moved on in life (suburbs or further away) and with aging parents who also want to go to Florida for some portion of the year, it does make it a lot easier. I posted this in the other thread, but I find it funny that people act like the next 10 years here isn’t lost. It’s totally weird, but then again, I told all the cops/fire/munis the bogeyman was coming and they looked at my as… Read more »

Well said. What makes it worst now is that businesses are closing and citing “civil unrest”. Look at Lawry’s – that place is an institution and they are shutting their doors at the end of the year. For good. That’s pathetic. Shame on Lightfoot.

….Lawry’s The Prime Rib to close at end of year after 46 years in Chicago
The beloved steakhouse is closing due to a confluence of unfortunate events, including the coronavirus pandemic, civil unrest and an expiring lease…..

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
