Lindenhurst school district removes book program for being ‘left-leaning’ – WGNTV (Chicago)

“Because who picks the books matters, there are certain areas of the state where one ideology is much more dominate than any other ideology,” board member John Lorentzen said. “So if you have 80 evaluators and 60 are from this part of the state where they have this philosophy and you have 20 from the rest of the state that have a different philosophy. Obviously, majority is going to rule and you’re going to see a tilt in that direction and that’s really the concern the board has.”

“Stamped for kids” is an incredibly anti-white book, claiming, for example, that abolitionists who supported the Underground Railroad were racist – because they also believed that former slaves should assimilate into society by working, going to church, getting married, etc. (the same basics expected of the white population at the time).

I read it and was shocked that this was being read by 8-10 year olds in school.

Very misleading, they DID NOT remove any books and they DID NOT remove the list of left leaning books. It seems they are creating an additional list of neutral books. It seems some people don’t want that. Maybe WGN could change the title “Snowflakes upset that school district is implementing a neutral book policy”

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
