This situation has existed for many years: at the bargaining table there are the unions representing themselves and the union-backed politicians representing, again, themselves.

The people don’t have a seat at the table … and that’s one of many reasons Illinois is in a financial mess.

“The government is over a barrel here, and even worse, the negotiating is collusive,” attorney Philip Howard said. “The unions helped JB Pritzker get elected, and then they come in and sit on his side of the bargaining table.” The state of Illinois government and Public Sector Union criminal conspiracy in a nutshell. All of it illegal and criminal.

None of it is illegal nor criminal. It is in fact a constitutional right provided by the people of Illinois.

Comparing the freedom to associate and collectively negotiate with that association and comparing that with slavery. WOW!. You’ve gone completely off the deep end.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
