Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Just about one of the stupidest things yet…and thats saying alot because there are a lot of stupid to go around….
Another situation dreamed up to generate headlines for the Pritzker crew who will exploit is in a fashion like this “We successfully welcomed immigrants into our working class blah blah etc.” the reality is they can’t meet hiring regulations, the costs, no doubt high, to run the background checks, fall upon the taxpayer and Pritzker gets a new headline. Life in Illinois continues on.
It’s so sad. People that broke into our country will be armed and telling those of us that pay their salary what to do. You couldn’t make this story up 5 years ago.
State of Illinois lawmakers do not know how to think. They cannot look 1 minute ahead to see what the laws they passed will cost. Just like Pelosi said. Pass it and read it later.
She actually said, “We have to pass it to find out what’s in it.” This is how all legislation gets passed. Our elected officials do not write the bills. The bills are written by lobbying groups and special interest groups. They literally do not know what they are voting on – they are told how to vote.
I think most bills in Illinois are passed that way. The legalize is incomprehensible to most lawmakers like Sen. Stadelman who was a news anchor in Rockford not an attorney. There is rarely if ever discussions on the house floor as to what it will cost.
Plus how many lawmakers pass the bills presented just because they do not want to upset the apple cart or should I say the Party.
