Long line of ID-seekers forms at Consulate General of Ecuador – FOX32 (Chicago)

The long line snaked down Lake Street from Wabash to State with hundreds of people from Ecuador waiting in line to get city-issued IDs. A man with the Consulate General of Chicago explained this is a big deal for many and this is only the third time the city has offered this to people from Ecuador.

I would like to know why all these illegal jumpers do not seek out help in the U.S. Embassy in their own countries before they travel a long,perilous journey to our country. Every country they come from has an Embassy or Consulate general where they can start the process of asylum or legal entry. That’s why those U.S. institutions are there. Get vetted there and fill out the necessary paperwork.
