Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. For a smart guy, Griffin got led around by the nose by political consultants and the Thompson/Edgar crowd, eager to spend and pocket his money, regardless of the outcome. Doing any due diligence by Griffin should have revealed all the well documented known Irvin liabilities. I understand the theory of running a black candidate, but are there no black moderate Republicans in IL? If not, cultivate some.
Happily voted for Bailey this morning.

And that is why the only choice of an informed voter is LEAVE IL! Most have already left and the suckers remain behind. Reading Chicago and IL news makes me more and more glad we left just in time before the whole thing implodes.
I still have a home here for work but I just closed on a home in Florida. Couldn’t be happier.
