Mayor Brandon Johnson aims to resettle asylum-seekers from shelters, but it won’t be immediate – Chicago Tribune/MSN

People mingle outside a designated shelter area at Daley College in Chicago on June 13, 2023. The city relocated migrants from the YMCA to the shelter at Daley College. As it looks to eventually find more permanent solutions than the police station lobbies and large congregate shelters that have housed migrants in recent months, Johnson deputy chief of staff Cristina Pacione-Zayas said the city is also eyeing a $25 million expenditure, with state assistance, to provide six months of rental assistance for more than 6,500 migrants, plus $15 million to fight homelessness.

How about deportation? How about discouraging more so-called refugees from massing at the southern border?

How about enforcing immigration law?

Naah…It’ll be fine.

City Hall announced it will initiate affordable rental housing-subsidies, a new-new program, exclusively for new migrants, to rehouse them in free-market rental housing. Johnson administration apparently thinks we taxpayers bear full responsibility to rehouse migrants in rental homes, to pay migrants’ individual rents, pay for their furnishings and food, medical care, childcare and/or education, et al.

Precisely!

Send ‘em packing back to where they came from. And they should be accompanied by the current Washington elites.

I wish to H*ll they’d send a few busloads here up to Evanston… it would be grand fun to see how the wealthy white SJW’s who infest this place would “react”…

No state assistance cause the state has no money except to pay for lavish public sector pensions-medical. If the state has no money, where does such money come from…..yes, the suburbs. If Chicago wants to be the crime capital of the country, and if Chicago wants to implement all sorts of benefits to illegal entrants to the US and not cooperate with ICE, then vote rich Chicago should pay for it.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
