Mayor Brandon Johnson commends how police handled latest teen takeover, objects to “mob” label – CBS2 (Chicago)

Just after 9 p.m. Sunday, a group of young people looted a 7-Eleven, tossing stolen merchandise into the air and running away with their arms full of goods; at one point, a fire extinguisher was set off near the gas tanks outside the store. Johnson took issue with a reporter's characterization of the incident Sunday night as mob action. "That's not appropriate. We're not talking about mob actions. I didn't say that. What I'm… hold on a second, OK? Respectfully, these large gatherings – these large gatherings...It's important that we speak of these dynamics in an appropriate way. This is not to obfuscate what has taken place."

But he says the police treated them respectfully and with sensitivity. That means they put them in the back of the squad car and burned some incense and did a Hopi prayer chant after zip tying them.

I suspect BJ’s going to have many opportunities to reassure people by saying this sort of thing, as the summer moves on.

Snow’s coming BJ, hang in there……

He used a big word therefore he is correct. In another speech regarding local miscreants looting stores etc Mayor Johnson had this to say, “Hibbidy jibbidy, ugga booga, oook, eeek”.

Wonderful denial of what is in plain sight. Are Chicagoans really going to put up with this unfolding anarchy? Not “mob action”? “Engage with our community partners.” Who the heck is that? Just “large gatherings” to loot stores, jump on cars and attack passersby. I’m not sure this guy really has an agenda or is just plain delusional.

Its neither reason. The actual reason is that he just doesn’t care if black kids are looting and pilfering around town. Just like the a-hole football coach who gives his O-Line the high-five after engaging in perverted, unprofessional locker room behavior towards the 2nd stringers, our Mayor Brandon is always going to give his peeps with the same color skin a pass for bad behavior. It’s that simple. There’s really no world where he’s going to give the kids of his community anything more than a slap on the wrist for antisocial and uncivil behavior, because they his peeps for… Read more »

This is called ethnonarcissim or ethnic narcissism, defined as when “….where love for one’s own group overshadows all other important values…”

Mayor Brandon loves his group, his identity, and important values like law and order, civility, are simply unimportant, because he would never do anything to hurt his voters and their children of the community. So that’s why he really doesn’t care if they loot or mob up, because, like he told us, its just kids being silly.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
