BJ himself was/is delinquent on his real estate taxes, water bills, traffic violations, parking violations, et al, so he can make himself first example of “stronger revenue enforcement collection”.

stronger “revenue enforcement collections” – does that mean Brandon will have to stay current on his water bill?

I don’t understand why the “FINAL” destination for jumpers sent by Abbot is Chicago. Does the sign on the front of the bus say Chicago? Would the buses continue if the sign says Hudson Bay in Canada? Are there no stops in East St. Louis? Maybe Chicago should just be a temporary layover and then send them on to the North Pole.

Really? It’s as simple as yes or no: “do ya wanna go to Chicago? Ok, board this bus”. These folks know their destination before they enter bus; they’re not kidnapped.

Yes really. Is Chicago the only destination in Illinois? I don’t see buses going directly to East St. Louis which is closer to Texas. What are these jumpers being told in Texas as to what Chicago offers? Do these people who probably have cell phones know the living conditions going on in Chicago? Most likely there is a media blackout and none of them know anything about Wirepoints and most don’t read or speak English. Do they really want to sleep in police stations/tent cities or on the street. They are lied to from their starting point all the way… Read more »

Nobody voted for this and the polls, community meetings, and citizens indicate most are against it. Nice try.

Chicago and NY baited them with fancy hotels and room service months ago. They’ve all been communicating with those back home.

This is where they put them first. They’ve been staying here for over a year.

They aren’t being lied too. They know exactly what they are getting into. It’s a lottery for them. Some get hotel rooms. Others get police station floors. Still others find jobs, move into a crowded tenement home like living situation. These migrants are mostly the Venezuelans who have nothing, no family or community connections. Some hope to hang out a while for something better while others try to sell chocolate on street corners. It is a full scale, uncontrolled migration right now, making the cartels wealthy.

Citizens pay taxes, drug addicted and mentally challenged roam freely.

Citizens pay taxes, illegal migrants live for free.

Citizens pay taxes, criminals freed.

Nice budget.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
