Mayor Brandon Johnson would benefit from CPS contract he’s negotiating – Illinois Policy

Johnson is currently on leave from CPS but is also negotiating its contract with the CTU; He is accruing seniority while he is Mayor. So if he returns to CPS at the end of his term in 2027, he’ll be considered a 20th year teacher despite having taught for four. Johnson’s pension with CPS would range from $3.8 million to $5.5 million.

Maybe, but it would be interesting to know the logic you’ve used for both the upper and lower limits of that eventual pension. There may be some bad assumptions there. Care to elucidate, mate?

So if there was a huge error, and he got “only” 2 million for teaching 4 years, would that make it OK? At least you could feel good that you pointed out a big lie, right?

Don’t you think before we tear into each other here as seems your predisposition we might want to look at the facts, Jack? I’ll hope to await those details before firing my musket at a supposed enemy here. Meantime I’ll hope civility.

Trying to tear into each other? No, just pointing out that asking for the logic used in deriving the numbers is only trying to divert from the basic point. Should anyone get total pension payments anywhere near a million dollars for a 4 year teaching career? If you think that is justifiable, you can point out why.

Presumably laws result from the resolution of opposing points of view. What’s “fair” is forever debatable, but adherence is mandatory. If a great many find a law intolerable, then over time political thoughts which are deemed more important at the time will cause a replacement. Public outrage meantime may speed the process but likely won’t change the circumstances for the immediate parties of any such situation. I asked for the facts of the situation for my own amusement rather than to spend never ending wheel-spinning time arguing with anyone else as to what’s “fair”. If I find something egregious I… Read more »

Considering that Public Sector Union scum are criminal co-conspirators with IL politicians in a campaign bribes for votes scam, “Fair” is $0. Nada. Zilch. Jack squat. Anything else is charity. The taxpayers of IL know this fact. Enjoy the dog food in your golden years.

I take it you’re not the kind of guy who whistles while you work. Chances are they tend to live longer.

Perfect example why public unions should be illegal.

Another reason there are problems with teacher pensions. This needs to be stopped. If someone is not teaching, they should not acrue any additional time.

At the end of his term, Johnson will have a pension to die for, as he’s still on the CTU clock despite his lies to the contrary, and a gift room that will rival the riches found in King Tut’s tomb.
