Mayor Johnson ramps up pressure on state lawmakers to help him save working people from Trump cuts – Chicago Sun-Times

Johnson said he demonstrated his own willingness to “go first” by proposing a $16.6 billion budget that includes nearly $600 million in tax and fee increases that “challenge the ultra-rich and corporations to pay their fair share.” State lawmakers "had 33 proposals last year for progressive revenue. They got three across the finish line… There’s a little bit more work to do,” Johnson said.

Might be time to start the relocation process…with this most recent “veto session”. I don’t see how Illinois survives and how regular tax payers can afford the ever increasing and harassment of taxation. Democrats (through their actions) now believe that it is their job to figure out new ways to take ever increasing amounts of money from citizens and give it to others.

Maybe Johnson should cut his wasteful spendig, spending on illegals, and political hires before he asks for more money. He could stand up to CTU sand their political demands . But he can’t stand up to CTU- they own him.

I don’t think Sci-fi Brandon has ever met a working person.
“Working” is just a concept to him.

At this point, I just don’t see how the city survives financially.

They keep borrowing money, just like they have in the past. All of American government borrows money to provide for stuff the public wants but does not want to pay for. This system is destined to fail.

Many of the ideas of the so-called progressives are not progressive at all.

Once again the Mayor’s crew demonstrates their total ineptitude at getting anything done in Springfield. He simply does not understand how to approach the people with power or to put together a strategy for generating pressure on legislators. And he does not know how to ask. And anyone who knows the Springfield lobbying scene will tell you he has a bunch of minor leaguers floundering around down there. The pitching is just too fast for them.

Isn’t Illinois Fun?

Is Johnson capable of putting pressure on Springfield or does most of Springfield just chortle at his musings?

I vote for chortling at his musings, much like
in days of old at the kings court the jester
would amuse with his clown antics.

Ultra rich don’t take dares. They take their money and corporations to Texas or Florida. Pinhead is an idiot

Too bad he showed the inclination to “ go last “ when paying his 3K water bill. To think this Marxist has any answers ( other than “ tax da rich” ) to complex financial issues is foolish.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
