Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. There’s $300 million+ supposedly spent on non-resident migrants. It’s a rubbery number, because there’s little disclosure, little record-keeping, and lots of secrecy surrounding Chicago’s actual expenditures on migrants, in 2023, and each month so far in 2024. Big big secret.
But let’s face it, $300 million spent on longtime Chicago residents could truly have housed several hundred Chicagoans presently couch-surfing with friends and family because they cannot afford a studio apartment anywhere in Chicago.
“Wascally wepublicans to blame!”, screams Chicago’s own Elmer Fudd.
I believe Zippy is losing control of himself with this loss. Let’s get him declared, Non
Compus Mentis and be done with it.
Tough talk from the middle school teacher that didn’t assign homework because it’s racist. Perhaps he’ll be buckled up into a straight jacket after his next panic attack.
I hope the reality of what this increase means to EVERYONE will be explained, analyzed, and discussed based on authentic facts. The soundbites about “taxing the rich” sounds good to many; however, this is a slippery slope … \
We need talent in the Mayor ‘s office not more bs…..
The Archdiocese of Chicago offered the city use of empty properties for free and instead of taking that, and leveraging money to help even more people, the Mayor chose to lease at an exhorbitant rate instead. This describes social services administered by Democrats especially, in a nutshell. No one trusts government to spend wisely. Theyve shown most goes to the donors.
This is an excellent summary of where the $$$$ is going.
