Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. What Chicago needs in a States Attorney who will prosecute violent criminals, repeat gun offenders, drug dealers and gang bangers who are in involved in 95% of the violent crime. We need a Chief Judge that will hold criminals responsible with cash bonds that will keep criminals un jail and off the streets. We need a sheriff who doesnt want to release everybody from the county jail without any requirements and these released criminals go back to terrorizing innocent citizens. Wow, more gun control. Hasn’t this issue been debated for years? Illinois already has some of the most restrictive gun control laws in the country, but most of these laws assumes the criminals are buying guns from retail stores…um, LL..they don’t. More laws on the legal purchase of firearms and ammunition only serve to restrict law abiding citizens from their right to have a gun. If you want laws that give teeth to those who illegally buy and sell firearms…ok – we are with you, I am sure every Law abiding citizen is with you all the way on that… Read more »
