Mayor Lori Lightfoot makes it clear she’s running for reelection – WBEZ (Chicago)

As to others who might run for mayor, Lightfoot said, “Look, they’re going be people that poke their head up and people that jump in, and I’m going to talk to the voters about our record of accomplishment over these now almost last three years. I feel very, very confident in our ability to articulate a reason and a vision for the future and a reason for voters to vote for me.”

Lori is totally oblivious to how universally disliked she’s become. There’s a lot of odd people in politics, Lori takes highest honors being exclusively driven by hate. She hates anyone taller than herself; so basically she hates everyone. I wish she’d just go away.

You can’t fault Lori for that, I don’t like any reporters! I’m a misanthrope regarding the press.

I hope she asks Chicago voters if they’re better off now than they were 4 years ago.

She feels confident in articulating a reason for voters to vote for her. It’s on all those gas cards she is distributing.

Yeah I think most voters will vote for anyone but her. She’s going to be humiliated. If she wins it will be voter fraud. If she loses she will claim voter fraud.

Severley dissappointing, as is almost always the case for entire Illinois/Chicago political class (dem and rep). Get elected, get that massive pension and retirement benefits, take it easy, do the public unions bidding, and maybe get some extra cash on the side ie as a property tax attorney.

She has no shame. If she had any shame, she would move out of Chicago and never return.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
