Mayor Lori Lightfoot text to Illinois attorney general over police reform: ‘Do you really want (a) public fight with me over the consent decree?’ – Chicago Tribune*

Lightfoot’s texts with Kwame Raoul delve into a particularly sensitive political issue for the mayor, a former federal prosecutor who vowed to reform the Police Department but has faced criticism from advocates who say she hasn’t done enough. The attorney general’s office sued to force Chicago police reform efforts, citing a federal civil rights investigation “that confirmed what many Chicago residents already knew — that CPD has a history of serious problems endangering the lives of both residents and police officers."

Police endangering the lives of citizens. That’s a laugh. 4500 people shot in Chicago in 2021 Chicago cops involved in 22. 1.5+ million calls for service, traffic stops, street stops, investigations, warrants, arrests and interactions with citizens. .004% of shootings. Yep, those cops are trigger happy threats.

Tough talking Lori, threatening the AG with a tune up. She as clumsy as the ten thumb pickpocket.

Yep, she is picking another fight that she will lose. She will eventually cave to Kwame, again revealing her innate weakness. As in the CTU strike, she always caves in to the opposition.

Lori wants to give the impression she’s doing her due diligence. What better manner than being blindly obstinate. Lori could care less about the consent decree.

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
