Mayor takes Chicago police leaders to task amid questions on response to latest violent gathering of youths downtown – Chicago Tribune/MSN

The officers who responded late Saturday focused on containing the crowd of hundreds instead of moving into the fray, Hopkins said. A Walgreens was looted, a break-in was attempted at the Art Institute, two Chicago Transit Authority buses were attacked, the windows and windshields of a number of motorists were broken, a couple was beaten and robbed, a police officer suffered a broken bone, another officer was mobbed and had his radio stolen and two teens were shot, Hopkins said. “It was one thing after another. And the police response just was inadequate."

Foxx, Lightfoot, Johnson, Evan’s and a host of other democrats were hoping the cops jumped into the fray so they could have them indicted, prosecuted and sent to prison (White cops only please).

The cops concentrated on containing the crowd , not wading into it.
And just what were the cops supposed to do if they did indeed “wade into it”? Give high fives? Crack skulls? Give threatening looks?
What a complete load of bull shizer!

Yep, cops cause crime, farmers cause hunger, doctors cause disease, fire fighters cause fires, the undertaker causes death, and the collision shop wrecked your car.

You nailed it Old Joe. Progressives reverse cause and effect. That’s why none of their “solutions” have worked in over 60 years.

The communists’ solution to their perceived problems is the destruction of society. Their solutions are working and the evidence is everywhere. That’s why it seems to normal person like us, they are reversing cause and effect, but in their minds, they believe the opposite.

I can just imagine the headlines if the CPD had pulled up with paddy wagons and deuce-n-a-halfs borrowed from the Guard, and started throwing zip ties around rioting – that is to say ‘protesting’ – youth’s wrists as they stuffed them in.

Be careful GG, the term “paddy wagon” is a slur against people of Irish lineage.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
