Mazzochi: ‘Pritzker should have worked with the legislature; he repeatedly refused’ – DuPage Policy Journal

“I can respect Gov. Pritzker doing what is best for his family, as long as he respects my rights to do my best by mine,” said Rep. Deanne Mazzochi. “But he rejected the premise that people deserve their freedom to exercise their best judgment for what is right for their families.”

Be careful what you wish for. The IL legislature is so progressive, so crazy, their idea of covid-mitigations would make New Zealand, Australia or China look like Disneyworld. They’d have locked you in your home for two years. JB is a tyrant but at least he feels like he has to answer to voters vs. a Republican candidate in a few months. Our legislature runs mostly unopposed and they have nothing to fear, they’d have gone full authoritarian.

Agree with you. There is a lot of frustration and disappointment with IL GOP overall. They have stayed silent and gone along with Pritzker’s tyranny for two years. They have all participated in COVID Theatre and many have promoted the vaccines which they had no place to do. IL GOP very late to the game.

“If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?”

If the IL GOP screams ‘tyrant’, but no journalist reports it, does it matter at all?

If Pritzker fell in a forest the sound would travel further and would likely be followed by vigorous bellowing of a creature unable to regain a vertical posture.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
