Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Good luck with that!
Mental health experts responding to police calls? Oh, please, let’s stop this naive SJW idea before anyone gets seriously injured.
An experienced cop has far more relevant “mental health crisis expertise”, from on-the-job work-experience and plain commonsense, than the likely recent graduate from the many 3rd-rate master degree programs in social work, that freshly-licensed clinical social worker who is supposed “mental health expert” responding to mental health emergency calls. Expect headlines shortly, shrieking about the devoted social worker grievously injured “in line-of-duty” during a redirected “mental health wellness” emergency call, and another big lawsuit payout to follow.
That will work until one is downed with an ax
To the communist, twenty dead social workers axed to death is evidence the program is working!
