Midwest Battery Roundtable on October 3: Chinese EV battery maker Gotion’s troubling connections to the CCP

On Thursday, October 3rd at 10:00 AM C.T. Congressmen Darin LaHood (R-IL) and John Moolenaar (R-MI) will hold a roundtable in Manteno, Illinois on Chinese electric vehicle battery manufacturer Gotion High-Tech’s troubling connections to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and the risks its planned facility in Illinois poses to America.

This event follows the Congressmen’s earlier roundtable in July at the site of Gotion’s other planned U.S. facility in Green Charter Township, Michigan.

Democratic lawmakers in both states have heaped massive subsidies on the projects. Gotion is in the process of receiving subsidies of $536 million from Illinois, and state and local incentives in Michigan are estimated to total $715 million. Gotion is also in line to receive $7.5 billion of federal tax credits for the Illinois plant alone under the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.

Confirmed participants for the Manteno roundtable include:

1. Amanda Piker, Concerned Citizens of Manteno (Illinois)

2. Emily de La Bruyère, Co-Founder, Horizon Advisory

3. Robby Dube, Attorney, Eckland & Blando

4. Dan Caulkins, Illinois Representative, District 88 — Decatur.

At the roundtable, LaHood and Moolenaar will discuss the implications of Gotion’s ties to the CCP, its links to slave labor, and the battery plant’s potential threats to U.S. national security. Roundtable participants include community leaders, constituents, and experts. Officials from Gotion Inc. have also been invited to attend.

All are invited to attend live or join the livestream through the link here at 10:00 AM CT, Thursday. The event will be held at the Leo Hassett Community Center, 211 N Main St., Manteno, IL 60950.

The gold facade of Pritzker’s claims to make Illinois green to help his Presidential ambitions is wearing quite thin and the underlying pile of stuff underneath it all is starting to show through. We can thank the Illinois media for helping Pritzker with his dreams along the way. Many of the public that buy these fish wraps will stop buying with final disgust. How sad that Pritzker destructions in Illinois will include the independent media but that’s how socialism works.

Correct me if I am wrong. Rep Darin Lahood is the useless RINO from Peoria IL who’s father Ray Lahood was Obama’s yes man Sec of Transportation.

Is this the Lahood referenced to? Sorry I’m not to informed. My wife just had her knee replaced 2 days ago after 6 years of waiting and is home now. Need to take care of her.

I lived in central Illinois for 62 years. I witnessed the Lahood family in office for their many terms. Darin and Ray are both useless in respect to not being fiscal conservatives. They are both Rinos. They voted to bury us in debt.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
