The Lewis Case, as it’s known, dates back to the 1990s, when more than 100 Black Chicago firefighters said they were denied opportunities based on their race. A 2005 ruling found the City of Chicago responsible for discrimination, but attorney Chiquita Hall-Jackson said those same firefighters never received credit for their seniority.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
