Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Hate to be blunt, but these Democrats-in-charge have unleashed a monster they cannot control. The “leaders” of major cities over the past 50 years, have been very soft on violent crime (even against death penalty in heinous murders), they raise taxes through the roof, always approve excess, even wasteful govt spending, and they’re so soft on illegals, in fact WELCOMING to them, which actually loots jobs from our own citizens. It’s interesting that when I was a kid (80s-90s), we always heard Miami was a festering crime pit. It seems to have improved its image a lot in the past 20-25 years.
