Loads of people “discovered” the forest preserves during the COVID-19 pandemic, and that increased usage hasn’t slowed as people continue to look for ways to disconnect from technology, said Brook McDonald, of the Conservation Foundation, which is supporting the campaigns in DuPage and Kane counties. “It’s a great problem to have,” McDonald said, but a problem nonetheless.
Although I do enjoy an occasional walk in a forest preserve , I don’t think I want lake county to purchase more swamp and unusable land . The districts should be looking to user fees, daily and yearly. Then those who peddle , paddle and walk in these district/ government properties could start paying their fair share . Its time to stop saddling property owners with all the bills.
Agree. These government entities are getting out of control. They got used to all that free COVID money (which was OUR money and not really free) and now they want to keep the gravy train rolling. Hope the vast majority of people vote NO.
A largely unasked question is becoming glaring: Is Illinois doing all it should to use artificial intelligence to make government cost less and work better? So far, the evidence says no.
