Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. I’m shocked that Welker had the hutzpah to ask JB that question. Good for her. But of course she had a milk toast follow up to his BS answer and let him get away with saying at least four things that are demonstrably incorrect.
I actually laughed at him on this one. Her question totally caught him off guard. His response to her question was so stupid.
