Nearly 2,000 invasive carp removed from Illinois River in quirky tournament – WICS (Springfield)

Robots, tasers join battle against invasive species photo 3The tournament was born nearly 20 years ago out of local frustration with the arrival of the invasive carp. Participants, often helmeted and in costume, cruise the river in packs using nets to catch the flying fish.
