New filing: Illinois has constitutional authority to ignore immigration law, complicate deportations – Cook County Record

Raoul and pritzker"... Yes, Illinois's choice may 'frustrate' implementation of 'federal schemes,' like the current federal executive's (President Donald Trump) avowed commitment to conduct the largest mass deportation in American history," the attorney general's office wrote. "But this frustration is not obstacle preemption when the Tenth Amendment protects Illinois's sovereign right not to cooperate in the President's schemes."

Why don’t you two jackasses do your actual jobs and go after Lion Electric who stole $95M from tax payers without delivering any of the products they promised. Get the money back for the tax payers of Illinois.

THIS CASE WILL BE A LOSS FOR THE GOOD GUYS, it’s a Biden Judge, we all know what that means!

“The case was assigned to U.S. District Judge Lindsay C. Jenkins, who was appointed by former President Joe Biden.”

The the Federal government has Constitutional authority to prosecute anyone who impedes their efforts to stop illegal entry into this country. Pritzker and Johnson should be arrested.

Dear ICE agents, bring some extra large handcuffs and a triple X waist chain when you drag Jumbo Pritzger away to face multiple felony charges.

I honestly do not care what IL Leftists Democrats do – lawlessness is at their core as they have proved that yearly for a long time. However, what I do care about is that IL’s Leftist Democrats cut their noses off to spite themselves, i.e. lose Federal tax dollars.

What is constitutional preemption? The U.S. Supreme Court has consistently ruled that the federal government has broad and exclusive power to regulate immigration.6 A state or local law will be constitutionally preempted if it at tempts to regulate immigration. Under this test, the relevant question is: Does the state or local law regulate immigration—does it make a determination of who should or should not be admitted into the country and the conditions under which a legal entrant may remain—or does it simply pertain to immigrants?7 State and local laws that attempt to regulate immigration violate the Supremacy Clause of the… Read more »

The U.S. Supreme Court has consistently upheld the federal government’s jurisdiction over immigration law. SCOTUS has overruled attempts by state legislatures to single out immigrants. The Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution generally means that federal laws trump state laws. This is a FEDERAL matter. NOT a State issue. The most any State and locality could do would be to say that unless they were to receive federal funding they were not going to help identify or support illegals. But they still could not enact law to protect them or get in the way of Federals deporting them. If they… Read more »

Wow. More Illinois tax dollars wasted in a losing legal case. All to support the Pritzker for President Campaign. Kwaumie is truly a Superman. How does Kwaumie find the time for this work along side of his vigorous pursuit of corrupt Illinois politicians like Tiffany Henyard.

will it be a losing case, at least for now? Biden judge is making the ruling, and it’s rare for a Biden judge to rule against Democrats…

Kwame’s interpretation of the Tenth Amendment is comical. He must not have done too well in his Con Law class.

The champion of trans rights and empty prisons gets circles run around him time and time again. He’s a big fish in Springrad, but on the national stage, he’s just another ill equipped fool that could be sent packing by any decent first year law student.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
