Big Hospital, representing itself and Big Doc and Big Pharm, get to turn in any unpaid debts owed by their public-aid patients for reimbursement by Cook County using Federal ‘COVID Relief’ $’s. While this article is light on details, people who owe unpaid medical bills are not medicaid patients. They probably have no insurance, or have insurance and are covered under other people’s insurance plans. There’s a large contingent of people that flat out don’t pay co-pays or deductibles. They go to the doctor, get a bill for $70 as a the co-pay and just don’t pay it. Their credit reports are replete with unpaid medical bills to hospitals, surgeons, especially lab testing companies, and xray/ct diagnostic companies.
