New Illinois bill would require EMS workers to wear body cameras – WCIA (Champaign)

A new bill sponsored by Sen. Doris Turner would require the use of body cameras by EMS workers supplied by their employer to film all their interactions with members of the public. All ambulances would also have to be equipped with dashboard cameras.

HIPPA Act may be a giant hurdle to overcome as paramedics etc fall into the category covered by that law.

Not a horrible idea, but very true on the HIPPA, as well as this being another unfunded mandate. The cameras aren’t expensive, but the storage of the videos is VERY costly.
