Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Audio here.
Illinois state motto, State Sovereignty, National Union, needs to be updated also.
How about, We Tax You to Death?!!
Or maybe;
Our Governors Serve More Time in Jail Than in Office!!
It should have the picture of “Alfred E. Neuman” on it. “What Me Worry?”

Some symbols to incorporate into the new design…
The Democrats are taking down the United States, state by state. As they do this, they have to change the state flag. Illinois needs a new flag which reflects the governor and legislators political stance….PURE COMMUNISM.
Well, as a flag the current one is pretty lame — just the state seal slapped on a white background. Other states such as Texas, California and Colorado actually take pride in their flags; ordinary citizens fly them from porches, they are incorporated into T-shirts, coffee mugs, and other products, and people from out of state recognize them immediately. Note also that, say what you will about Chicago, its four-star flag has become genuinely iconic and is widely displayed. Here’s a video that humorously rates the various state flags based on the principles of vexillology (flag design)…. needless to say… Read more »
The Illinois flag appears at the 10:15 mark in the video BTW.
Illinois Democrats To Waste Tax Dollars On New State Flag — Probably One That Will Cancel Illinois History In Favor Of Far Left Woke Virtue Signaling Vomit
Or, just adopt the updated intersectional Pride flag and call it a day; it’s habitually flown over many state buildings and is already a de facto state banner as it is.
Serious suggestion: incorporate the colors blue, orange, yellow and green (to represent waterways, agriculture, and the U of I); incorporate the Chicago “stars” in some fashion; use a silhouette or some other symbol of Lincoln; avoid using the state’s name or any text on the flag (it should be instantly recognizable by its symbolism).
Cynical/snarky suggestion: incorporate marijuana leaves, a one-armed bandit and a fetus in a red circle/slash to represent our three major industries — legal pot, gambling and abortion.
I recommend a simple design. The outline of the state in the middle, with people running away in every direction.
Replace the banner with a snake, perch the eagle on a cactus and throw in Benito Jaures high school in the background.
How bout incorporating a few design elements from the Mexican flag….
Or incorporating elements from a communist flag.
