New Illinois State Rule Says People With Proof Of COVID Vaccination Don’t Count Against Capacity Limits; Rule Still Under Review For City Of Chicago – CBS2 (Chicago)

“You know, it’s getting a little confusing,” said Steve Hartenstein of the Stefani Restaurant Group. “How do you have the time to ask? And how do you – is it intrusive to ask somebody, ‘So have you been vaccinated? Show me?’”

Restaurants used to have smoking sections. Now some may have vaccination sections. This would not violate HIPAA as some have suggested if it’s done on a voluntary basis. The Miami Heat have already reported that they will form two lower bowl sections for fans that provide vaccination proof starting April 1. They will relax some of the COVID rules in those sections. Whether from government or private business, preferential treatment for those vaccinated is on the way.

Enforcement of such a monitoring provision is impossible. So restaurant’s hostess/waitstaff are required to monitor counts of vaccinated vs unvaccinated customers, in fluid situation of a restaurant dining-room? Paperwork to demonstrate compliance would be an equal nightmare. I think our Illinois COVID-policing politicians Pritzker and Lightfoot live in fantasy-world, where they are cosseted and guarded at taxpayer expense, and think their whim is our command.
