Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. Restaurants used to have smoking sections. Now some may have vaccination sections. This would not violate HIPAA as some have suggested if it’s done on a voluntary basis. The Miami Heat have already reported that they will form two lower bowl sections for fans that provide vaccination proof starting April 1. They will relax some of the COVID rules in those sections. Whether from government or private business, preferential treatment for those vaccinated is on the way.
So much for Hippa
Enforcement of such a monitoring provision is impossible. So restaurant’s hostess/waitstaff are required to monitor counts of vaccinated vs unvaccinated customers, in fluid situation of a restaurant dining-room? Paperwork to demonstrate compliance would be an equal nightmare. I think our Illinois COVID-policing politicians Pritzker and Lightfoot live in fantasy-world, where they are cosseted and guarded at taxpayer expense, and think their whim is our command.
