New Laws To Strengthen Labor Rights Sponsored By Sen. Ram Villivalam – Patch Skokie

One law makes it a crime to interfere with picketing workers, another limits judges from awarding money for damage to a businesses' property, while the other awards disability benefits to any police officer, firefighter or paramedic who became ill following the declaration of the COVID-19 public health emergency. Villivalam worked as a lobbyist in Springfield for the Service Employees International Union, or SEIU, before his 2018 election.

Laws to strengthen labor rights – because if there’s one thing we know, it’s that unions don’t have enough power Illinois.

I still don’t understand SB021— providing disability benefits to any police officer, firefighter or paramedic who became ill following the declaration of the COVID-19 public health emergency? Why does this apply to “first responders only”? I’m shocked everyone from CTU to other public sec unions aren’t pushing for equal benefits just like parental leave. And what qualifies as a COVID disability, it seems completely arbitrary?

Looking at these vote counts, it seems like too many RINO REPUBLICANS voted for these bills too. Shameful.
