New thinking on COVID lockdowns: They’re overly blunt and costly – Wall Street Journal

Five months later, the evidence suggests lockdowns were an overly blunt and economically costly tool. They are politically difficult to keep in place for long enough to stamp out the virus. The evidence also points to alternative strategies that could slow the spread of the epidemic at much less cost. As cases flare up throughout the U.S., some experts are urging policy makers to pursue these more targeted restrictions and interventions rather than another crippling round of lockdowns.

Have heard from a few medical persons who state this was the wrong thing to do. They all have stated that yes protect the vulnerable but everyone should go out about life and do as they need. This sitting in your home is worse.
Look what the lockdown has caused.!!

No surprise here. I commented months ago. COVID has killed the Golden Goose that laid the Golden Egg.   Extinction Rebellion, Greens, Liberal Lefties you will have what you want, traffic free cities. No more climate change.   Statistically COVID is not very dangerous to 99% of the population. COVID 19 is preventing treatment for other more dangerous conditions and diseases. In other words, the obsession with COVID 19 is set to cost far more lives globally, than the actual virus itself. And those lives lost will not be almost totally confided to the over 75’s as COVID deaths are.… Read more »

You are 100% correct – check out with Dr. Scarf lady said recently:

“I’ve been so struck by the number of Americans across the country that have just had it,” she said.

“Mortality decreases” have also complicated matters, she said.

“When people start to realize that 99 percent of us are going to be fine, it becomes more and more difficult” to get people to comply, she said.”

Comply.
Comply.
Comply.

Spooky.

Birx is part of the problem. As long as she perpetuates the myth that this highly-communicable respiratory virus follows a different outbreak pattern than the hundreds before it she is guilty of malpractice. “Cases” mean nothing unless they advance to hospitalization and death. Like every other virus it is prone to outbreaks in communities and it gets bad for 7-8 weeks. And then it subsides – herd immunity begins to fight it. If you have a compromised immune system- age or illness related- isolation is your best option. If you don’t have a compromised immune system isolation is your worst… Read more »

The Truth Hurts

Pritzker doesn’t like this story one bit. So now he has decided that when you are in a restaurant you will need to wear a mask every time the wait staff comes to your table. I’m picturing it now, you are eating your lunch and as the wait staff approaches you need to put down your utensils and quickly put your mask on. I’m sure touching your germ infested mask 25 times during a meal and then eating your food is the safest approach. It’s so comical.

I hope this is a joke. But I know it’s not.

The DATA AND SCIENCE tell us…….

I appreciate WSJ finally re-thinking this but this article is about 3 months too late. There were a few in the editorial section who brought it up however, I believe that was Henninger or Jenkins.

Where are we at with overturning/voiding of Pudster’s Executive Orders? I’m assuming this will be held up in appeals for a while.

I know there’s a joke here. What do you get if you quarantine politicians in Springfield? More tax’s! More insanity.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
