Not being discussed is all the basic amenities required to support an semi-permanent encampment of +2,000 – Feeding, sewage and water, bathing, trash removal, transportation, policing, etc. There is your disaster Mr Mayor. The proper response for Chicago 1) Rescind immediately any and all ‘Sanctuary Status’ 2) Start busing the illegals back to the nearest border for deportation

PS: I really am surprised how Chicago’s African-American population has effectively rolled over for this take over. A career criminal, drug dealer, and addict O.D’ed while being arrested in Minneapolis, and they went nuts.

Don’t forget, Gaza is considered by the international community a refugee camp and exists mostly off international aid despite there existing 2.1 million people and shoddily constructed buildings several stories tall. I’m not surprised that the AA population rolled over. Of course they did. They hold completely incoherent and irrational positions (despite religiously voting Democrat in record numbers every election) which results in chaotic and ineffective results, my favorite being “I am for more police as long as they leave me and my family and friends alone” and “No amount of money… Read more »

Why should they ask? They had no intention of listening to you in the first place. That is how government works (or doesn’t). Just shut up and pay your taxes.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
