Oak Park mayor, trustees begin discussing possibility of not allowing gas stations to stay open 24 hours, in wake of shootings, robberies and other crimes there – Oak Leaves*

Village Manager Kevin Jackson said that local gas station owners have been put on notice. “In the event that we see any additional violence occurring at these gas stations, we are prepared to act in accordance with the management’s authority to do it, which could include a potential suspension or revocation of a business license."

Next up…claims of racism as there are no 24 hour gas stations servicing the Oak Park population similar to food desserts these days in certain areas

I went down the street to the 24-hour gas station. When I got there, the guy was locking the front door. I said, ‘Hey, the sign says you’re open 24 hours.’ He said, ‘Yes, but not in a row.’

So Oak Park, IL is just going to let the thugs win. Awesome!

I think the proper thing to do is shut down ALL gas stations in Oak Park, IL, and crime will plummet to 0%.

Because goodness knows, the Oak Park PD won’t do their job and arrest lawbreakers and citizens aren’t allowed to defend themselves and shoot any armed thugs robbing them. Rest assured the OPPD will quickly arrest anyone defending themselves from a crime with a firearm.

Communist Rule does take its toll!
Easy for the dictates to go after the law abiding than after their criminal friends.

Another example of punishing the victims.

Politicians need no experience or education to run for office – all they need to do is garner more votes than their opponent. No expertise required.

This is a perfect example of a knee-jerk reaction rather than considered analysis of a problem.

Doesn’t this idiot of a mayor realize that the criminals will just change their operating hours, too? Following the great leftist mantra of “We must do something” this blind fool will do something that also does nothing to stop the invading criminals from Chiraq and only hurts the small business owners who supply a valuable service..

Yes, this is a great idea! It is time to begin punishing the businesses for the transgressions of the residents! I’m looking for my forever in Oak Park now!

Let’s hope there’s reparations for gas station owners.

Mark Glennon on AM560’s Morning Answer: Chicago pension buyout plan mostly shifts debt rather than eliminating it, property tax surge doubles inflation over three decades

Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension.
