Oak Park terminates license plate reader contract – Wednesday Journal of Oak Park and River Forest

Four trustees made up the majority voting to cancel the contract. Those trustees cited concerns over privacy, distrust of the Flock corporation and the potential for the cameras to be used for immigration enforcement in violation of both state law and village sanctuary ordinances.

“Feelings, wo oh oh feelings” – should be the walk in song for Oak Park town council meetings. Heavily Hispanic adjacent or nearby towns like Berwyn and Cicero have the cameras and seem unconcerned with ICE and are focused on the reality of crime. White ultra liberals in Oak Park know better…how to make themselves feel good scoring points amongst themselves while reality surrounds them.
