Chicago’s political leadership is floating a pension buyout program as evidence it is seriously addressing the city’s thirty-six-billion-dollar unfunded pension liability, but Mark Glennon, founder of the Illinois policy research organization Wirepoints, said that the proposal moves debt from one column to another rather than reducing it, and that the broader fiscal picture facing the city continues to deteriorate across every measurable dimension. After all, didn’t B.O. do more for the USA than all the founding fathers combined? What a joke. There is, however, a real problem that wont go away: the government and elites have made sure that the cost of quality living exceeds many families’ earning potential and, as might be expected, many are not too happy about that. Miserable hoards are easily whipped up to all kinds of nonsense…expect the misery level to rise. Cool with me if you want to cast B.O. in bronze, but please leave other monuments to due process.
